We have another new member tonight: Jessica P, who is another attorney with Matt at Rider Bennett. Also, Cody Thon made his first appearance! He was born March 30th and is adorable of course! We all had our turn at getting our baby fix on. Jessica is such a natural at this whole mom thing.
The book is a historical fiction novel set in the 18th century in London where a 13 year old girl turns to prostitution after her mother throws her out on the street. A Slammerkin is an 18th century term for "loose fitting clothing" or a "loose woman". The author describes the setting and the characters very well and was able to evoke emotions out of me as I was reading it. I felt kind of dirty and depressed as it went on, but I enjoyed the story, despite the sleaze. All of our members tend to really like historical fiction, so this was right up our alley.
