Chosen by: Jessica P.
Location: Jessica P.'s new apartment.
Jessica recently moved in with Joep H. from the Netherlands. They are a very cute and happy couple - - getting serious???
Michelle, Kerry and Jessica T. were unable to come. But, it was Maci Bille's first book club! She was born March 31st and is beautiful! Ryan looks great and is a very natural and calm mommy. Kerry, due in Sept. is having a girl!! No other baby news at this point.
We had lasagne a la Joep, wine and lots of dessert. Yum!
This book is a tale about Max, who is born looking like a 70 year old man and grows younger over time. So, when his body appears to be in it's 50's, his mind is that of a 12 year old boy. It was very interesting to think about what it would be like to have the young mind when you appear old and the wise, mature mind when you appear young. He also meets Alice and falls in love with her somewhere in the middle of his life, but they are aging in different directions, so it is a tragic love story. We all liked the book and decided that Max is kind of creepy and very deceptive. Alice was also quite self-involved, so maybe they did belong together. The story was well written and had a clever ending where the credits lead you to believe that Max did really write these memoirs and that they were found in an attic in 947. It made us think twice. Sneaky sneaky Mr. Greer. Sneaky sneaky.
