We met at my house in Roseville to discuss the book and eat before the limo arrived. We have another new member, Kerry Appleton, a friend from Children's PICU. Welcome!
The book was emotional, disturbing, beautiful and suspenseful all at the same time. It's about a girl who is murdered and watches over her grieving family and her killer, from heaven; her heaven. I really like the author's idea of heaven. Each person has their own surroundings, the things they deem valuable in their former lives and you can visit other loved ones in their personal heaven, whenever you wish. Albeit lonely, it also seemed soothing. We all enjoyed the book.
After we ate, the limo picked us up and off we went, with our bottles of wine, and our complimentary box of festive, yet slightly stale, Christmas cookies, on another Christmas light tour. We started on Summit Ave. in St. Paul, where the lights are brilliant, classy and pleasing to the eye. Then we were taken to the 'burbs, where the displays swiftly become gawdy and very overdone. It is actually humorous to see what lengths some people will go to in order to out-do each other. "Bubba trying to out-do Bubba", a Jessica T. quote I believe. A great time had by all: listening to the Christmas stations, trying to hear all the conversation going on, trying to not spill wine, and attempting to keep the windows from fogging up without freezing our bums off. Open the window, close the window, open the window, close the window.
Those in attendance: Shelley, Ryan, Jessica (with baby boy in belly), Kerry, Carolyn and Michelle.
